MY STORY

My Journey to Woodworking

My journey to becoming a woodworker/maker has been a long and winding one that has led me from Kansas to the Marines, from California to Japan, and finally back to Kansas again.  I grew up the son of a framer and custom home builder and "woodworking" to me was sweeping up dust and dirt at a rough-framed home.  Needless to stay, this did not exactly instill a passion in me when it came to working with wood.  Looking back though, I can say that I learned a lot watching my dad and seeing how his attention to detail in all the facets of homebuilding resulted in well-built homes that the owners fell in love with.  I try to apply the same fundamental ideas to my projects that my dad applied to his custom homes - quality materials and superb craftsmanship.

I focus mainly on unique, handmade goods for the home and garden. I especially enjoy trying to design things that will look great in a home or garden, but also serve a practical purpose.  Check out some of my creations and get a look inside my workshop in the gallery  I've also
just started getting into the realm of laser engraving and cutting, which opens up a whole new world
of possibilities.  Burn baby burn!
